Retreat mini breaks. The Vikings Retreat is a modern open plan self contained mini-cottage that sleeps two, located in the lovely village of Donington-on-Bain in the very heart of the Lincolnshire Wolds, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The retreat is sited on The Viking Way national walking trail, walk out of our garden gate and you’re now standing on the Viking Way, turn right for Tealby and Walesby or turn left for Goulceby, Horncastle and beyond. There are several popular established walks around the village too, from 2 miles to 7 miles.

The retreat has a private bathroom and kitchenette and sits in its own private garden of just over a quarter of an acre, all overlooking the Lincolnshire Wolds in a predominantly south facing aspect.

We have safe parking for a car, as well as secure parking for either cycles and motorcycles too.

The site offers a ‘cube’ for sitting and watching the sunset, or maybe to practice yoga, plus a firepit too and ample space to simply sit and relax.

The Viking’s Retreat is ideal for those looking to unplug from life and relax, or maybe wishing to explore the area more. Though we do have Wi-Fi and a TV, if you want to work remotely or simply binge watch your favourite Netflix miniseries.

Cadwell Park race circuit is 4 miles away, historic Lincoln is 20 miles and Market Rasen Races 10 miles. Race day transport can be arranged too.

We’re located equidistant between the historic market towns of Louth, Market Rasen and Horncastle. The traditional seaside towns of Cleethorpes, Skegness and Mablethorpe are only a short drive or ride away too.

Our popular and welcoming village pub offers fresh local food prepared to order along with a wide range of guest ales.
